No I don't think companies should be banned from advertising to children. Burger King does it as well and just as extensive I might add, but nobody is saying anything to them. Personally my children don't go for the toy, that's just an incentive for getting the whole happy meal. I don't buy a toy, you only get a toy if you get the entire happy meal and they are not allowed to see the toy until they are done eating!! It also keeps me up on current childrens movies coming out because most of the time they are promoting for a new and upcoming movie!! Parham doesn't seem to have control over her daughter and doesn't know how to take care of the issue. This is the only advise I would give her, TRY COOKING SOMETIMES AND MAYBE YOUR CHILD WOULD KNOW SOMETHING OTHER THAN A HAPPY MEAL AND A TOY!!
I do not think companies should be banned from advertising to children. There is too much money to be made in this particular market. If higher up officials decide to ban this then our economy will continue plummet. When I was a kid I recall going to McDonald's just because I wanted a particular toy. This way of marketing is genius and I do not see any harm from this act. Every happy meal purchased one is guaranteed to receive a toy. This stimulates a liking to this industry by attracting consumers at a young age. The younger they are the more loyal they will be to the company overall.
How would children get to learn about all the awesome different cereals and Nerf guns, it should definitely be legal. On the other hand, tobacco probably should not be.
